First Impression & Check-in Process
10 Kms before Shimla, we took a halt and called the host, Adev to inquire about the location and within half an hour, we reached our destination without any hassle. The moment we stepped in, we were awe-struck seeing immense greenery around. Besides this, there was a small garden with various flowers once you go downstairs after parking.
Adev’s father and caretaker of the property were standing there to welcome us. We parked our bike and went inside. With the help of caretaker Bheesham, we unloaded our bike and, he helped us by carrying our luggage to the tent in which we were supposed to stay.
Here’s a bit about the stay, room, food, service, etc. that genuinely deserves a mention when you talk about your stay while traveling. So, let’s start with how we liked the property.
A Bit More About the Property
The property constructed back in 1870 by the Nawab of Lahore and is one of the oldest houses in Shimla. It includes a heritage bungalow and 4 luxury tents downstairs.
It includes three rooms out of which one room is not for rent as the host is staying in it. The other two rooms are available for the guests that they can rent. You can rent either one or both at the same time. The rooms are well decorated and has attached bathroom. Both the rooms have separate LCD TV’s with a cable connection installed.
The decor of this villa is such that you will feel like you have stepped back in time. The property is well maintained and the touch of heritage is kept intact. There is a sitting area with a hall and the formal drawing-room.
Besides, there is a cozy library which is a card room too. Also, there is a beautiful garden in which guests can sit back and relax to enjoy the beauty of nature.
When you book a room, you have the access to the whole villa that includes a drawing-room, dining room, library, lawn, Wi-Fi internet, Kitchen, etc.
Want to cook your own food? If yes, Kitchen is all yours if you want to cook on your own otherwise Bheesham is always there to cook a delicious meal for you.
Hey, did we miss out talking about one of the most important member of the property?
Well, he is BullMastiff named Diesel. Besides, good built, you will love him for his playful nature.
There are four big luxury tents and two small tents pitched downstairs. Our stay was arranged in a bigger one. The camp has ample space, besides bed, there is a side table placed in both the corners. The best care has been taken of bedding which are clean and hygienic. The mattresses along with pillows are comfortable to ensure a good sleep. There is an attached washroom with 24 hours water supply. If you want warm water for a shower, there is an electric rod that is made available.
The most important and good thing that the owners of the property have taken care of is pesticide has been sprayed on all corners to ensure that no insect enters the camps. We too didn't spot even a single insect inside our camp during our stay.
The tents are pitched in a garden area where there is a separate dining tent, bonfire area, rope bridge, etc. for guests to enjoy and have a great time together.
Nature at its best is promised. The mornings, evenings, days and nights all make you feel great.
When we woke up in the morning, we felt splendid with the beautiful vistas. With a hot cup of coffee sitting and relaxing amidst nature is an incomparable experience. We spotted big and small different bird species too.
In our two nights, three days stay, the food we found was good. Main course was stomach-filling. We liked all the options available. The chicken that Beesham cooked in our first night of stay was delicious. Malai Paneer deserves a special mention as it was lip-smacking.
We found the food good as it was a real home-cooked that locals out there in Shimla have for their regular meals.
The food was cooked in limited oil and healthy delicacies made available for each meal during our stay. Now, we understand how Shimlaiets are so fit with a glow on their face!
